Chase Stegall, son of Blue Bombers legend Milt Stegall, dies at 20

Chase Stegall, the son of Blue Bombers legend Milt Stegall, died on Monday at the age of 20.

Chase Stegall, the 20-year-old son of Winnipeg Blue Bombers legend Milton Stegall, has died.

“Chase lived a life filled with love, kindness, and talent, and his memory will be forever etched in our hearts,” his family said in a statement.

“In this time of grief, we take comfort in knowing how many lives he touched and we will continue to honour Chase’s memory with the love and light he brought into the world.”

His family thanked people for the outpouring of support and asked for privacy as they grieve.

In a statement on X, Bombers president and CEO Wade Miller said the team is heartbroken about Chase’s sudden and tragic death, describing him as a “bright and talented young man with a promising future.”

“Our hearts go out to Milt, Darlene, and the entire Stegall family during this unimaginable time,” the statement said.

“We mourn with them and extend our deepest condolences, love, and support.”

Chase was part of the men’s soccer team at DePaul University.

In a statement, DePaul’s men’s soccer said Chase was a cherished member of the community, dedicated teammate and kind-hearted friend.

Going forward, the team said it will support Chase’s friends and family through this devastating time.

“His loss will be deeply felt across our entire Athletics and university family and his memory will forever be part of DePaul University.”

The CFL, along with TSN, where Milt works as a CFL analyst, also offered condolences.

“Milt values family above all else, and as a beloved member of our TSN family, his unimaginable loss is felt by all of us,” they said in a statement.

“It’s difficult to imagine a more devastating tragedy than the loss of a young son or daughter,” the league said in a statement. “The hearts of everyone in the CFL, and our legion of fans, go out to our dear friend Milt Stegall and the entire Stegall family upon news of the sudden passing of his son Chase Stegall.”
