A local woman has released a book detailing haunting stories in Windsor’s west end area of Sandwich Town. “It’s all true stories of hauntings that people have actually physically experienced,” said K.G. Miceli, author of Tales of Sandwich Town. “It focuses a lot on the history of the buildings…for example, the Windsor jail, Mackenzie Hall, even the Duff Bobby house.” Miceli says she put out a public call out online for people who had strange experiences in Sandwich Town. After speaking with them, she wrote a story based on that experience. The book has 23 stories in total. Miceli’s spark to write about paranormal activity came from her own unexplained experience on Texas Rd. in Amherstburg which led her to write Tales of Texas Road. “There’s a lot of stories that date back hundreds of years of people walking or driving down the road and just weird things would happen, things that didn’t make sense,” explained Miceli. She described writing these books as therapy. “There wasn’t anywhere that you could go to find these stories publicly. That’s kind of what had started it,” she said. “Sharing it with the public kind of just gives me that little bit of satisfaction.” The books can be purchased at Storytellers Bookstore on Ottawa Street, Biblioasis Bookshop on Wyandotte Street, River Bookshop in Amherstburg and Amazon. Miceli says she was nominated for the International Impact Book Awards’ Author of the Year where she attended a gala in Hollywood earlier this month. “I didn’t win the award, unfortunately,” she said. “But it did mean a lot to me to just be nominated and be able to go there and represent Windsor-Essex in the way that I did. I thought this was a big step in my writing journey.” Miceli is also a co-director and co-producer of a new television series which will feature six different stories from her Tales of Texas Road book. She says the series is scheduled to air on Bell Fibe in March of 2026.
