Stellantis launching third shift with 1,700 employees at Windsor Assembly Plant

Stellantis is announcing the official launch of a new third shift with over 1,700 employees at the Windsor Assembly Plant, set to begin Feb. 17.

The company says the 1,700 newly trained employees, most represented by Unifor Local 444, will support full-scale production, marking a major expansion of Stellantis’ Canadian manufacturing footprint.

“Launching the new third shift at the Windsor Assembly Plant is a proud and significant milestone for Stellantis and for our Canadian operations,” said Trevor Longley, president and CEO, Stellantis Canada. “With production of our next-generation, award-winning Dodge Charger lineup and No. 1-selling Chrysler minivans ramping up, we’re creating jobs, expanding capacity and building real momentum. This investment reinforces our commitment to Canadian manufacturing and to the incredible team at Windsor Assembly.”

The additional shift will accommodate production of the Chrysler minivan lineup and the all-new 2026 Dodge Charger lineup.The Charger lineup includes:

• Sixpack-powered Dodge Charger Scat Pack (two- and four-door) producing 550 horsepower and 531 lb.-ft. of torque
• Sixpack-powered, 420-horsepower and 468. lb.-ft. of torque Dodge Charger R/T (two- and four-door).  Both Sixpack-powered models come with standard all-wheel drive when you need it and rear-wheel drive when you want it.
• All-electric Dodge Charger Daytona Scat Pack (two- and four-door), delivering 670 hp as the world’s quickest and most powerful muscle car

The Windsor Assembly Plant has been the home of Stellantis’ award-winning minivan portfolio for 42 years. Today, the plant builds the Chrysler Pacifica, Grand Caravan (Canadian market) and Chrysler Voyager (U.S. market).

• With three shifts, total plant employment is nearly 6,000
• Nearly 250 employees from Brampton chose to transfer to the Windsor Assembly Plant to take on new roles
• Three shift operations will run on midnights, days and afternoons in all major areas of the plant, including Body-in-White (BIW), Paint, General Assembly and Material Handling
• Production job types include team members, team leaders, online and offline inspectors, material drivers, subassembly operators and trainers
• Skilled trades involved in third-shift operations include electricians, industrial mechanics, pipefitters and toolmakers
• A new Chrysler minivan or Dodge Charger rolls off the assembly line roughly every minute.
