A kitchen fire in downtown Windsor has left five displaced Monday. Fire crews were called to 412 Aylmer Avenue, between Brant and Assumption streets, on Monday morning. District Chief Kirk Rowse said crews arrived to find light smoke showing and quickly brought the fire under control before noon. Officials say the fire started in the kitchen after oil was left on the stove and ignited after the residents left. No injuries were reported. Estimated damages is $340,000. Rowse reminded residents to ensure they have working smoke detectors and carbon monoxide alarms. He also urged people to remain attentive while cooking. The fire comes after two other fires in downtown Windsor on Sunday, including one at a high-rise building on Ouellette Avenue and another on Bruce Street.
