The Essex County Library has ratified a new contract with CUPE Local 2318 staff. The three-year collective agreement is retroactive back to April 1, when the last contract expired. Both the union and the library board have approved the contract. “Essex County Library staff continue to show a high level of commitment to delivering exceptional service across our communities,” said Adam Craig, chief librarian. “This agreement reflects a collaborative process, and we feel that it strikes a fair balance for both staff and for the organization.” Union president Lori Wightman said the bargaining team worked hard to reach an agreement that benefits both sides.
