Conservative Chris Lewis has been re-elected to a third term as MP for Essex. The riding of Essex — which includes Amherstburg, Essex, Kingsville, LaSalle and parts of Lakeshore — has a history of swinging between parties, but that is not the case in 2025. “I want to say thank you to the folks of Essex that have put their trust in me now for a third term. It is the greatest honour of my life to serve people,” said Lewis. Main issues for the region include agriculture, manufacturing, trade and cross border relations. The incumbent MP, is a former firefighter and small business owner from Kingsville, and was seeking re-election after flipping the riding from NDP control in 2019. “We’re all here to leave the world a better place than we found it, in our own unique and magical way. And so to the people of Essex, it means the world to me that you’ve entrusted me once again to represent you. And in Ottawa, I will do it with dignity. I will do it with, humility. And I will do it, with a bounce of my step and a smile on my face.” Lewis extended congratulations and his admiration to the other candidates in the race, telling supporters how proud he was that the campaign was kept clean. “It’s not easy to put your name forward, but you did you did put your name forward and I’m glad that we had a very civil election. I’m going to continue to work for you. I’ll continue to bring your ideas, your fresh ideas. I’ll continue to bring your thoughts, your dreams, your hopes and aspirations, your concerns, all those to Ottawa. That’s why I’m elected. I can’t wait to get back to Ottawa.” Lewis has served as the Conservative Shadow Minister for Labour and is focusing his campaign on jobs and economic recovery. Lewis won his first election with 41.6 per cent of the vote, beating the NDP’s Tracey Ramsey. Lewis defeated Ramsey for a second victory in 2021, being re-elected with 41.1 per cent of the vote. The riding has a population of roughly 132,000 people, with nearly 35,000 ballots cast in advance polls, which was the third highest total anywhere in Canada.
