The Chatham-Kent Public Library (CKPL) has partnered up with Project Bookmark Canada in an effort to connect readers with Canadian authors in the locations that inspired the work. Project Bookmark Canada installs plaques in locations featured in Canadian books, showing the imagined scenes in real life places. Two of the plaques will be put in at CKPL branches. One will honour author Robertson Davies, who was born in Thamesville. It will have an excerpt from his novel ‘Fifth Business’, which discusses life in a small Ontario community before World War I. A self-guided walking tour has also been put together so the community can explore significant spots to Davies’ life in Thamesville. Details on the second plaque have not been revealed.
