Caesars Windsor Cares is donating $30,000 to fund the purchase of high protein food for distribution across all 15-member food banks of the Windsor Essex Food Bank Association. Volunteers are assembling the food hampers at the UHC – Hub of Opportunities at 6955 Cantelon Dr. on Thursday. The hampers include meat products, ensuring individuals and families receive nutritious protein. UHC officials say rising food and living costs are forcing families across Windsor and Essex County to go without nutritious food, with protein often being the first item cut from household budgets. At the same time, protein is one of the least donated and most difficult items for food banks to secure, even as demand reaches record levels. Officials say this funding will provide immediate relief by ensuring individuals and families across the Windsor Essex Food Bank Association network have access to nutritious food during a time of growing need.
