Mounties in Nanaimo, B.C., are appealing for witnesses and information after a vehicle and community mailboxes were vandalized last week. Officers were contacted by the owner of a Tesla that had been parked on 900 block of Old Victoria Road overnight Feb. 25, the RCMP said in a news release Monday. “The vehicle had been parked on the roadway. Sometime overnight it was vandalized, leaving it with deep gashes to the front hood, side panels and a smashed windshield,” according to the statement. “Investigators are exploring all possibilities, including the likelihood that the vehicle may have been intentionally targeted.” In addition to the electric vehicle, police said “several” community mailboxes were “torn from their cement base” nearby. The Nanaimo RCMP said it is not yet known if the two incidents were connected and that patrols of the area have not resulted in any arrests. Anyone who was driving in the area between 11 p.m. on Feb. 24 and 5 a.m. on Feb. 25 is being asked to review their dash-cam video. Those with information are urged to call 250-754-2345.
