A woman is dead after an early morning e-scooter collision in downtown Vancouver Saturday, police say. Around 5:30 a.m., a man and a woman were riding an e-scooter north on Seymour Street when they collided with a transit bus at the intersection of West Pender Street, according to a statement from the Vancouver Police Department. The VPD said the riders were not wearing helmets, and the woman was pronounced dead at the scene. Police did not specify whether the man suffered any injuries, and B.C. Emergency Health Services told CTV News it dispatched paramedics to the scene, but transported no patients. CTV News has reached out to the VPD for more information on the man’s status. This story will be updated if a response is received. The incident closed Pender Street to traffic between Richards and Granville streets for several hours, prompting TransLink to re-route buses in the area. By 9 a.m., the detours had cleared, according to the transit provider. The VPD is asking anyone who witnessed the crash or has dash-cam or other video from the scene to contact its collision investigation unit by calling 604-717-3012 or emailing vpdciu@vpd.ca.
