Update, Oct. 30: Victoria police say Richardson is now in custody. The original story follows. Police in B.C.’s capital are asking the public for help locating a convicted sex offender who failed to attend a sentencing hearing in the city Thursday. James Gordon Michael Richardson pleaded guilty in February to charges of sexual interference of a person under 16 and telecommuting to lure a child under 16, the Victoria Police Department said in a statement Friday. He was scheduled to appear in court on Thursday for a sentencing hearing, police said. When he didn’t show up, a warrant was issued for his arrest. Police described the 41-year-old as a “heavily tattooed” white man who stands 5′11″ and weighs 170 pounds. They also shared a photo of him from December 2024. Anyone who sees him is advised not to approach, and to call their local police immediately. “While these are serious charges, VicPD’s Special Victims Unit investigators do not have any information to indicate a specific risk to any member of the public,” the department said, in its release.
