Authorities have confirmed one person is dead after a small plane crashed in B.C.’s Fraser Valley Wednesday night. The aircraft went down near the Mission suburb of Hatzic, in the area of Burns and Spratt roads. Mission RCMP said emergency crews responded to reports of a loud crash around 10:22 p.m., and found the body of a 22-year-old man among debris from the plane. The deceased, who was the lone occupant of the aircraft, had been “conducting a training flight,” Mission RCMP said in a news release Thursday. The circumstances surrounding the crash are being investigated by the Transportation Safety Board of Canada. A safety board spokesperson told CTV News the agency didn’t have additional details to share about the incident Thursday morning. “We are deploying a team of investigators, who should arrive at the site today,” the spokesperson said in an email. The TSB is an independent federal agency that investigates air, marine and rail incidents in an effort to improve transportation safety.
