Police said a 30-year-old man drowned in the waters of Albert Dyck Park in Abbotsford on Saturday. According to the Abbotsford Police Department, officers and emergency responders were called to the park on Walmsley Avenue at around 4:42 p.m. with “reports of a person under the water.” Police said bystanders had already removed the man from the water and attempted lifesaving first aid by the time officers arrived. “Despite extensive medical interventions by first responders at the scene, the thirty-year-old man was pronounced deceased,” Sgt. Paul Walker said, in a statement. Abbotsford police called the man’s drowning death a “tragic accident.”
