Homicide detectives say a Canada-wide warrant has been issued for the arrest of a 24-year-old man who now stands charged with killing his former girlfriend in Surrey, B.C. Amarbir Singh was charged with second-degree murder on March 6, more than two years after 28-year-old Navdeep Kaur was reported missing on Feb. 23, 2024. A statement from the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team on Wednesday said Singh was in a relationship with Kaur at the time of her disappearance. “Singh may have fled the country, but that will not stop us from pursuing him,” Sgt. Freda Fong said. “We will continue to actively track him down and we are fully prepared to work with our law enforcement counterparts overseas to bring him before the court.” The woman’s disappearance became a homicide investigation within days of her family reporting her missing from the 7800 block of 123 Street in Surrey. In July 2024, five months after the search for Kaur began, the Richmond RCMP found human remains near the Fraser River that were later identified as the missing woman. “Over several months, a team of dedicated homicide investigators examined the evidence from the crime scenes and pieced together a timeline of events,” IHIT said in the update. “The evidence was submitted along with a charge recommendation to the B.C.
