Vancouver’s newest star athlete says she’s excited to represent her new city and take the Goldeneyes to new heights. The PWHL’s Vancouver Goldeneyes selected Caroline “KK” Harvey with the first overall pick in the league’s entry draft last week. The 23-year-old blueliner from New Hampshire brings an already extensive resume to Vancouver after winning a gold medal with the United States and being named tournament MVP at the 2026 Winter Olympic Games in Milan, Italy, as well as a silver medal at the 2022 Winter Olympics when she was just 19 years old. Speaking with CTV’s Your Morning Vancouver on Tuesday morning, Harvey said she’s heard “amazing things” about her new team and the culture the Goldeneyes built in their inaugural season. “I’ve always wanted to live in Canada,” she said. “Some of my rivals are on this team, but can’t wait to be on the same side as them and be working towards a common goal of winning a championship again.” Among those rivals the 23-year-old blueliner is referring to were Sarah Nurse, Jenn Gardiner, Sophie Jaques, Clare Thompson, and Emerance Maschmeyer, all of whom played for the Canadian team Harvey helped beat 2-1 for Olympic gold. “Those were definitely some heated, tough moments,” she said. “Playing through that tournament, it was a great experience learning a lot day by day. At the end of the tournament, our team was just excited to win gold.” Speaking on the heartbreak for Canada in the Olympics, Harvey told CTV she’s hoping to win in Vancouver as well. When asked about whether the Goldeneyes can make the playoffs for the first time in her rookie season, the young star pointed to her new squad going all the way instead. “I think we set our expectations even higher. I think it’s winning a championship. I can’t say that enough,” she said. “I love to have fun out there and bring a lot of energy, but bring a calm demeanour in those heated moments, especially when a lot is on the line.” In her interview, Harvey gave a message to the fans she’ll play in front of at the Pacific Coliseum this coming season. “I’m just excited to play for you all and represent Vancouver proudly. I’ve heard nothing but amazing things, and I can’t wait to have that support and get out there soon enough,” she said. An opening date for the 2026-27 PWHL season hasn’t been announced yet, but puck drop for this past season came in late November. Outside of international play, Harvey spent the last four seasons playing for the University of Wisconsin, where she amassed 201 points in 147 games.
