Parking officer rushes to help as driver suffers heart attack

Ticket officer rushes to help man A Good Samaritan jumped into action after a man went into cardiac arrest behind the wheel of a car in Burnaby Sunday evening.

They sometimes get a bad rap, but parking enforcement officers are people too – and this worker from Metro Vancouver may be an actual hero.

Parking enforcement officer Jason Vickers was on the job Sunday evening when he came across a vehicle that appeared to be stuck in Burnaby. As it turned out, there was a man inside suffering a heart attack.

Vickers jumped into action, calling 911 and then performing CPR until emergency responders arrived.

"We removed him and administered CPR immediately to him," Vickers said. "It was about five minutes until Burnaby firefighters arrived and they took over the scene."

The driver was stabilized and then rushed to hospital. There has been no update on his condition.
