A motorcyclist is dead after a collision in South Surrey Saturday morning.

Officers from the RCMP Surrey Police Operations Support Unit were called to the intersection of Crescent Road and 132 Street shortly before 8:45 a.m., the Surrey Police Service said in a news release.

The call came from B.C. Emergency Health Services, who reported that a motorcycle and a vehicle had collided, police said.

Paramedics, firefighters and police all attended the scene, but the motorcyclist – an adult man – could not be saved, according to the SPS.

BCEHS told CTV News it received the call shortly before 8:40 a.m. and dispatched both advanced care and primary care paramedics, as well as a supervisor. No patients were transported.

The RCMP SPOSU Major Crimes MVI Unit has been called in to lead the investigation, police said, adding that the cause of the collision “remains unknown.”

“Motorists and pedestrians are asked to avoid the area of 132 Street and Crescent Road and find alternate routes while the investigation takes place,” the SPS news release reads.

“The area is likely to be closed down for several hours as officers conduct their investigation.”
