The City of Vancouver’s FIFA World Cup host committee released more details about a Fan Festival that will transform the grounds of the PNE during the tournament—while also teasing additional announcements over the coming weeks. The festival will have a capacity of 25,000 and admission will be free, mostly. “For those seeking an elevated match‑day experience, a range of premium options will also be available,” a news release from the committee said. The festival’s website indicates the perks of paid entry will include guaranteed admission and a guaranteed seat in the amphitheatre but information on pricing is not yet available. But Jessie Adcock, FIFA World Cup 2026 host committee lead, said the festival was ultimately designed so everyone can enjoy the event. “We feel really confident in our planning and we want to put on a safe and memorable experience for everybody,” Adcock said. The opportunity to watch games in a buzzing crowd was met with enthusiasm by many residents. “There’s something about community being together versus just watching it at a sports bar or at home,” one man told CTV News following the announcement. A calendar of events has also been released, along with the opening and closing times for each day which vary in accordance with the match schedule. Two “signature concert experiences” are scheduled for July 12 and 17. The performers have not been announced, but the host committee said the festival will feature “standout Canadian and international talent.” Adcock said organizers have been working to deliver an overall festival experience that reflects British Columbia. “The programming itself has been curated very intentionally to showcase the best of B.C.,” she added. A map of the festival site has also been released, showing different zones and viewing areas. “The beautiful game belongs to everyone, and the FIFA Fan Festival will be a truly incredible opportunity to be a part of the celebration,” said Vancouver Mayor Ken Sim, in a statement. “The Fan Festival will leave a lasting legacy in the hearts of all those who experience it. We are ready to put our best foot forward to proudly showcase local First Nations, Vancouver, British Columbia and Canada on a global stage.” More details are available online. The PNE won’t be the only place to watch the World Cup. Granville Island will host a free, family‑friendly viewing zone from June 11 to July 19 while Surrey will operate three fan areas at Civic Plaza, the Cloverdale Agriplex and South Surrey Athletic Park.
