One of Metro Vancouver’s most popular and challenging trails is closing for annual maintenance after the Thanksgiving long weekend, according to the regional district. The Grouse Grind Trail will fully close on Oct. 13 “Crews will be working on sections of the trail to repair and replace steps, stairs, and retaining walls to increase trail resilience,” Metro Vancouver said, in a statement. “The Grouse Grind Trail must be closed during these upgrades because the terrain where the work is taking place is steep, and hazardous and detours are not possible. Visitors are urged to stay off the trail while it’s closed — ignoring the closure may result in serious injury and delay reopening.” Weather permitting, the trail will reopen on Nov. 10. The BCMC Route and Baden-Powell Trail, which Metro Vancouver describes as similar routes, will remain open.
