A video of a bear in Mission, B.C., appearing to work the early morning garbage shift has gone viral on social media over the weekend. The clip, posted by TikTok user @deejay1321, shows a young black bear on its hind legs pushing a dumpster around a neighbourhood. The video is timestamped at 5 a.m. Saturday, with the caption “some early morning garbage duty.” As the bear rolls the bin down the street, the poster tells it “hey, that’s not your can” and “go home, that’s not yours.” The animal also climbs onto the bin and manages to open the lid, but doesn’t appear to succeed in extracting any garbage–the ideal outcome. Bears that get used to sourcing their meals from humans can become dangerous and may have to be killed. The video has garnered more than 500,000 views as of Monday and has been shared nearly 20,000 times. “Vancouver so expensive even the animals have to work,” one commenter remarked. “Interesting seeing a bear push a Tesla Cybertruck,” another quipped.
