Police say a Campbell River man has been arrested and charged in relation to a public pool break-in. The Centennial Pool break-and-enter happened on July 24, and resulted in damage to the facility’s change house, according to city staff. The pool was closed briefly following the incident, and staff said Mounties would be on site conducting a forensic investigation. Campbell River RCMP said their investigation led them to Derek Glenn Domeij, who they found and arrested on Tuesday. Domeij has since been charged with one count of break and enter and remains in custody until his next court appearance, which is scheduled for Sept. 14. Neither Mounties nor city staff provided further details on damage to the facility. In a release issued Friday, Insp. Jeff Preston, the officer in charge of the Campbell River RCMP, said his team’s work is “far from over.” “Property crime, including break and enters, continues to be a concern in our community,” he noted. Mounties say several other break-ins across the city are actively under investigation and ask anyone with information related to property crime to call the Campbell River RCMP at 250-286-6221 or report anonymously through Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS.
