Authorities are investigating a bus crash in North Vancouver that appears to have happened after the driver suffered a medical emergency behind the wheel. Social media video shows the TransLink bus veering onto the sidewalk near West 3rd Street and Mahon Avenue on Tuesday morning then hitting a tree. In a news release, North Vancouver RCMP said the bus was occupied at the time, and also struck “several parked vehicles” before coming to a stop. “We are relieved that no passengers were seriously injured in this collision, and our thoughts are with the bus driver as they receive medical care,” said Cpl. Mansoor Sahak, in a statement. Witnesses told RCMP the driver experienced a medical issue, but Sahak said investigators are still working to confirm the “circumstances that led to” the crash. Paramedics took the driver and one passenger to hospital for medical treatment. Authorities said the passenger suffered only minor injuries. The RCMP asked anyone who witnessed the crash or has video of what happened to contact the North Vancouver detachment at 604-985-1311.
