Conservation officers have been made aware of a trio of bears spotted in Port Moody, B.C., Tuesday morning, one of which made its distress clear to the neighbourhood. In a video submitted to CTV News by a resident of the Suter Brook area, three bears are seen moving through a roadway. One of the smaller bears appears to have a garbage can lid stuck around its neck. The person said they were woken by loud screams from the creature—the video shows it flailing in distress, and one of the other bears biting down on the lid in an attempt to help. B.C.’s bears are currently in hyperphagia, a state in which the creatures eat more than 20,000 calories a day as they prepare for hibernation. CTV News has contacted the B.C. Conservation Officer Service for more information.
