One person was seriously hurt in a shooting in a First Nation in northern B.C. over the weekend, according to authorities. The Northern Rockies RCMP say officers were initially called to Dene Etene Road in the Fort Nelson First Nation around 2:40 a.m. on Sept. 26 for reports of a fight. “When investigators arrived at the residence, they learned one person had been shot and already transported to the hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries,” Mounties wrote in a statement. Police say two suspects were arrested and a third is at large. The pair were released with conditions and court dates. “Investigators believe this to be a targeted event with no ongoing safety risk to the public,” the statement continues. Police asked anyone with information or video related to the incident to call 250-774-2700 and reference file number 2026-2211.
