1 dead after overnight crash in Maple Ridge, B.C.

One person is dead after a single-vehicle crash in Maple Ridge in the early morning hours of Friday.

The incident occurred shortly before 3:05 a.m. at the intersection of 240 Street and Lougheed Highway, according to a news release from the Ridge Meadows RCMP.

Police arrived to find firefighters and paramedics already on scene, Mounties said, adding that the Ridge Meadows RCMP Serious Crimes Unit and the Lower Mainland Integrated Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Team were called out to investigate.

B.C. Emergency Health Services told CTV News it dispatched one ambulance with primary care paramedics, one ambulance with advanced care paramedics and one paramedic supervisor to the scene. No patients were transported to hospital.

Lougheed Highway was closed in both directions as a result of the crash, but one lane had reopened westbound between Jim Robson Way and 240 Street by 9:30 a.m., police said.

The eastbound lanes were expected to remain closed for several hours.

Police said their investigation is “active and ongoing,” and asked anyone who witnessed the crash or has dash cam or surveillance video from the area to call the Ridge Meadows detachment at 604-463-6251.
