Blue Jays players share which of their teammates they’d want to be stuck in traffic with

As the hours count down to the Toronto Blue Jays taking on the New York Yankees in the American League Division Series, players were asked to answer an all-important question: which of their teammates would they want to be stuck in traffic with?

“I love Davis (Schneider), but I can’t go Davis because he’ll just put ‘Pink Pony Club’ on repeat,” said Jays pitcher Shane Bieber.

”Pink Pony Club" by Chappell Roan is currently Schneider’s walk-up song.

Bieber went on to say he would chose “Gausy,” aka fellow pitcher Kevin Gausman, because he’s “on fire right now.”

Despite not being chosen by Bieber, Schneider was selected by both catcher Tyler Heineman and fielder Ernie Clement to be stuck in traffic with.

“He’s a funny guy, I love hanging out with him,” said Heineman, while Clement added, “because he’s the G.O.A.T. (Greatest of All Time), obviously.”

Schneider was a popular choice, with Isiah Kiner-Falefa also choosing the fielder.

“For his singing abilities,” Kiner-Falefa said of his reasoning. “I just catch him in the plane singing by himself back there.”

As for Schneider himself? He said he’d rather go solo to spare his teammates from his road rage.

“I hate traffic... I’ll probably be cursing a lot (and) saying people suck so, I’m going to say no one.”

He did confirm Bieber’s suspicions by saying he’d “for sure” be playing “Pink Pony Club” a lot in the car.

Another popular player for being stuck in traffic with amongst the Jays squad was catcher Alejandro Kirk.

Pitcher Jose Berrios said he would choose Kirk because he’s “my guy,” and outfielder Joey Loperfido also chose him because “he’d probably play some good music.”

Relief pitchers Yariel Rodriguez and Jeff Hoffman also opted for Kirk.

“I feel like I got to get some more words out of him,” explained Hoffman, while Rodriguez said he would choose Kirk because “he’s crazy, man.”

Kirk himself went with his teammate Andrés Giménez.

“He’s funny. I like him.”

Starting pitcher Chris Bassitt was also chosen by more than one of his teammates as the best person to sit in traffic with.

“He is the funniest guy on the team,” said reliever Louis Varland.

“I think Bass would be really interesting, because he just never shuts up,” joked reliever Eric Lauer.

Bassitt and Clement were chosen by Nick Sandlin, Jeff Hoffman was picked by Braydon Fisher, and Gausman was picked for a second time by Brendon Little.

Gausman himself chose outfielder Myles Straw as his traffic buddy.

“I feel like he’s just always good conversation. Knows a lot about boats... I’d probably learn something about a boat or two,” he said.

Straw said he’d take “anybody but (Addison) Barger and Heineman.”

Last but not least was Vladimir Guerrero Jr. who opted for teammate George Springer as his traffic pal.

“I laugh a lot when I’m with him so, that’s why I pick George.”
