Peel Regional Police say a 20-year-old Brampton man has been arrested following an alleged incident involving a transit rider and an imitation firearm. In a news release, police say the incident happened at around 1 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 27, after the victim exited a transit bus in the area of Chinguacousy Road and Drinkwater Road. Investigators say the suspect followed the victim and claimed he was in possession of a firearm, prompting the victim to contact police. Officers located the accused a short distance away, police say. During the interaction, the suspect allegedly produced an imitation firearm and tossed it into a snowbank. Police say the accused was also found in possession of a backpack containing bundles of rope, rolls of tape, gloves, and two knives. As a result, 20-year-old Jagdeep Singh, of Brampton, is charged with possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose and conspiracy to commit an indictable offence. None of the charges have been tested in court but police say he was held for a bail hearing. Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact Peel Regional Police.
