Police searching for 4 suspects who allegedly attempted to rob jewelry store in Stoney Creek, Ont. mall

Police are searching for a several suspects who allegedly attempted to rob a jewelry store at a Hamilton-area mall on Wednesday afternoon.

Hamilton police say they were proactively patrolling jewelry stores at Eastgate Square, near Centennial Parkway South and Highway 8, at the same time four male suspects, allegedly armed with a sledge hammer and crowbar, arrived.

Police say their faces were covered, adding the group fled in a black sedan as soon as they saw Hamilton officers and security personnel.

They believe the group was planning a smash-and-grab robbery at a jewelry store.

Hamilton police are asking anyone with information, or footage of the incident, to contact them or Crime Stoppers anonymously.
