Police have arrested and filed more than 90 charges against two suspects following a break-and-enter investigation in Durham Region. Durham Regional Police said in a news release issued Monday that its investigation led to the recovery of a substantial amount of stolen property. They added that starting on Oct. 7, officers responded to a series of commercial break-and-enters that were linked to a small crime group. Police said they identified the suspects who were allegedly responsible for committing several thefts, including vehicle and licence plate thefts, across the Greater Toronto Area. On Nov. 14, police said investigators observed the suspects operating a stolen vehicle, and that both suspects exited the pick-up truck and attempted to flee the area on foot but were taken into custody. As a result of this investigation, police said several stolen items were recovered, including two pick-up trucks, a RV trailer, a large amount of designer sunglasses, contracting tools, beauty supplies, a large amount of vapes, jewelry, cell phones, several stolen licence plates and many stolen car keys. Police said they arrested 52-year-old Charles Duguay from Alexandria and that they are charged with numerous offences, including fail to stop for police, break-and-enter, possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000 and fail to comply with probation. Police said they also arrested 39-year-old Michelle Elida Wright from Missisauga and charged them with several offences, including assault with intent to resist, fail to stop for police, break-and-enter and possession of property obtained by crime.
