A TTC electrical worker was stabbed while on break in an “unprovoked attack” off property downtown on Friday morning, the head of the transit agency says. TTC CEO Mandeep Lali said it happened shortly after 8 a.m. near Bloor-Yonge. The worker was taken to Sunnybrook Hospital but has since been released and recovering from home, Lali said. “I wish them a full and speedy recovery,” the TTC CEO said in a statement. “Our employees’ safety is paramount and incidents of violence against TTC workers in the line of duty are completely unacceptable.” “This employee and their colleagues are receiving the full support of the organization, including access to trauma counselling services.” Lali added that the TTC is co-operating with the Toronto police investigation. Police are looking for one suspect who fled the area. He is described as having a heavy build and a black beard. He was last seen wearing a blue puffer vest, grey t-shirt, grey pants, black baseball cap, and brown shoes. Police said the victim and the suspect were not known to each other.
