Several roads across Toronto will be closed this weekend as three separate street festivals are planned to take place across the city. The TD Salsa on St. Clair Street Festival, the Chariot Festival and the Festival of South Asia will result in road closures in several neighbourhoods. TD Salsa on St. Clair Street Festival St. Clair Avenue West, from Christie Street to Winona Drive, will be closed to vehicle traffic from Saturday to Sunday for the TD Salsa on St. Clair Street Festival. The closure begins at 6:30 a.m. Saturday and remains in effect until 11:59 p.m. Sunday. Chariot Festival The Chariot Festival, formerly known as the Festival of India, will take place in Toronto’s downtown core this weekend, resulting in several road closures. On Saturday, the following closures will be in effect: Festival of South Asia Gerrard Street East, from Coxwell to Glenside avenues, will be closed to vehicle traffic this weekend for the Festival of South Asia. The closure begins at 5 a.m. Saturday and will remain in place until 4 a.m. Monday. In a statement to CTV News, a City of Toronto spokesperson said anyone “who needs to travel near road closures should plan their travel in advance, allow for extra time and consider taking public transit.” “Major street festivals and events generate significant economic and cultural benefits for Toronto and raise the city’s profile on the world stage,” the city said.
