Homicide at Ajax GO Station parking lot under investigation: police

Police are searching for at least one suspect after a man was fatally shot outside the Ajax GO Station on Sunday night.

According to police, officers were called to the station at around 11:30 p.m. for a “assist ambulance” call.

They arrived to find a man in his 20s suffering from gunshot wounds and he was transported to a Toronto-area trauma centre but later died from his injuries.

“Investigators are currently reviewing video surveillance and believe this incident did occur between 9 p.m. and 10 p.m. last night,” Joanne McCabe told reporters on Monday.

She said investigators are searching for at least one male suspect who fled the area on foot.

McCabe noted that a train would have arrived at the station shortly after the incident and police are appealing for any witnesses to speak to reach out to investigators.

“There is the potential that witnesses were in this area so we are asking if anyone saw anything suspicious, anything out of the ordinary… to come forward,” McCabe said.

The death marks the region’s fourth homicide of 2025.

Police said investigators believe the shooting to be “an isolated incident” and there is no risk to public safety.
