Parts of the Greater Toronto Area are under a yellow watch for severe thunderstorms, which could produce strong winds and quarter-size hail. The advisory is in effect for Vaughan, Richmond Hill, Markham, and the rest of York Region as well as Caledon. “Thunderstorms are expected to develop this afternoon. Some storms could become severe with strong winds, large hail and heavy rainfall,” Environment Canada said. The national weather agency noted that power outages and flash flooding are possible. There are no weather alerts for Toronto, but there is a 60 per cent chance of showers this evening with a risk of thunderstorm. Environment Canada said fog patches will also develop overnight.
