One person seriously injured after daylight shooting in East Gwillimbury

As CTV'S Mike Walker reports neighbours say it's not the first time police have been called to the home where the shooting occurred.

Police say one person has been arrested after a daylight shooting in East Gwillimbury left a victim with serious injuries.

It happened outside a home near Balsdon Hollow and Petal Avenue at around 8:40 a.m. on Wednesday morning.

The victim was rushed to hospital in serious but non-life threatening condition following the shooting.

Police say that the suspect fled the scene in a grey Honda Civic that was reported stolen on Monday.

Police were, however, able to track the vehicle to the Sentinel Road and Finch Avenue West area of Toronto with assistance from their aerial unit.

A suspect was then taken into custody about one hour later.

Feysal Mohamed, 18, is facing seven charges, including attempted murder.

Police say that Mohamed was on probation for an unrelated matter and was prohibited from possessing a firearm at the time of his arrest.

Officers are still looking to speak with anyone in the area that might have video footage, police say.
