Multiple road closures in effect for Pride weekend in Toronto. Here’s what you should know

Multiple roads will be closed as Toronto celebrates LGBTQ2S+ Pride this weekend with several events hosted by Pride Toronto in the downtown core.

Some closures will begin Thursday and remain in effect until Monday.

Pride Street Fair

The Pride Street Fair will result in multiple road closures in the Church-Wellesley Village neighbourhood.

Beginning Thursday, Church Street will be fully closed between Wellesley Street East and Alexander Street. Maitland Street will also be closed from Maitland Terrace to Alexander Place.

The closures will begin at 3 p.m. and remain in effect until 8 a.m. Friday.

On Friday, the Pride Street Fair will begin. Church Street will be closed to all vehicle traffic from the north side of Dundas Street East to the south side of Hayden Street. Wellesley Street East will also be closed between Yonge and Jarvis streets.

Those closures will begin at 8 a.m. Friday and remain in effect until 7 a.m. Monday.

Pride Toronto Trans March

The Pride Toronto Trans March will begin Friday with a rally at 7 p.m., Toronto police said in a news release.

The following roads will be closed from 7 p.m. until approximately 8 p.m., when the march is expected to conclude:

• Hayden Street from Yonge Street to Church Street
• Yonge Street from Bloor Street East to Gould Street
• Gould Street from Yonge Street to Church Street
• Church Street from Gould Street to Hayden Street

Pride Toronto Dyke March

The Pride Toronto Dyke March will begin Saturday at 1 p.m. and is expected to conclude at 2 p.m.

The march will follow the same route as the Trans March. Road closures will be in effect along the route during that time.

Pride Parade

Toronto’s annual Pride Parade will begin assembling at 8 a.m. Sunday on Rosedale Valley Road, with additional road closures taking effect throughout the day as the parade moves through the city.

Closures beginning at 8 a.m.

• Rosedale Valley Road from Park Road to Bayview Avenue

Closures beginning at 11 a.m.

• Church Street from Yonge Street to Bloor Street East
• Park Road from Rosedale Valley Road to Bloor Street East
• Asquith Avenue from Yonge Street to Park Road
• Collier Street from Yonge Street to Church Street

Closures beginning at noon

• Bloor Street West from Bay Street to Ted Rogers Way
• Yonge Street from Church Street to Queen Street East
• Dundas Street West from University Avenue to Victoria Street
• Bay Street from Queen Street to Dundas Street

All roads are expected to reopen at approximately 8 p.m.
