Police charged a Hamilton man after he allegedly collected more than $133,000 in fraudulent Ontario Disability Support Program (ODSP) payments. Hamilton Police said they were notified by the Ministry of Children, Community and Social Services of the suspected fraudulent benefit claims in March. The ministry investigated the individual and determined he allegedly provided inaccurate information for years, and was consequently overpaid. Following a review of the ministry’s findings, Hamilton police charged 48-year-old Steven Andrew Christou. Christou has been charged with fraud over $5,000. The charge has not been tested in court.
