Ditch the chocolate and roses for ‘Onlypaws,’ Toronto Zoo’s latest Valentine’s Day campaign

Torontonians looking to show off their “wild side” this Valentine’s Day can ditch the chocolate and roses and send their loved ones a “spicy” animal foot photo this year.

On Wednesday, the Toronto Zoo launched its new Valentine’s Day campaign where lovers looking for unique cards can send a “unique” picture of an animal’s paw, claw or hoof.

“When it comes to feet, size does matter—especially in the animal kingdom! Our Onlypaws fundraiser will deliver an exclusive, up-close ‘paw’ photo, featuring the spiciest toe beans in town," the zoo wrote in a release on Wednesday.

To send one of these “paw-traits,” Torontonians need to donate $25 to the fundraiser, which the zoo says will support its efforts in animal care, educational initiatives and wildlife conservation.

On the donation page, Torontonians can select what photo category they want to gift their loved one, from big cats, birds, reptiles and primates. The zoo notes it will take between one and five business days to receive the digital photo.

“The Toronto Zoo Wildlife Conservancy’s OnlyPaws fundraiser is a playful nod to modern pop culture, designed to bring fun and engagement to an important cause: supporting the incredible conservation work of the Toronto Zoo,” Toronto Zoo’s Amy Baptista told CTV News Toronto via email.

“We thought tapping into current trends could be a fun and bold way to raise awareness and funds for conservation science, animal care and education at the Toronto Zoo.”

The zoo is also still offering its “name-a-roach” campaign, where Torontonians can name a cockroach for $25 in honour of that special someone in their live.

Torontonians looking to make their Valentine roar with excitement can also adopt a cougar at the zoo for a $100 charitable donation.
