SURREY, B.C. - NDP leadership candidate Brian Topp has added more support in the crucial battleground of British Columbia.

Two MPs from Surrey, southeast of Vancouver, have announced endorsements for Topp, as have four provincial politicians.

The MPs are Jinny Sims from the riding of Newton-North Delta, and Jasbir Sandhu, who represents Surrey-North in Parliament.

Provincial NDP caucus members Sue Hammell, Harry Bains, Bruce Ralston and Jagrup Brar have also announced they're backing Topp.

Topp is a former party president who emerged as an early front-runner when he became the first to declare his candidacy to replace Jack Layton.

The party has an estimated 30,000 members in British Columbia, the most of any province.
