Winnipeg Blue Bombers get into marriage biz, as team opens up field for weddings

WINNIPEG -- It's the ultimate Hail Marry.

Starting this summer, the CFL's Winnipeg Blue Bombers are going into the wedding business for couples going first and forever by getting hitched on the turf at Investors Group Field.

The wedding biz is the brainchild of new Bombers president and CEO Wade Miller, who has made a priority of finding as many marketing opportunities for the club's new stadium as possible.

The Bombers will have a booth set up at a Winnipeg wedding show this weekend for those who may need a chapel with seating for more than 33,000 guests.

Packages start at a base that includes a two-hour field rental, but for an extra fee the nuptials can include use of the JumboTron.

Kim Babij-Gesell, a Bombers spokeswoman, says the club wants to make the stadium the premier place for weddings in Winnipeg.
