SUMMERSIDE, P.E.I. -- Jennifer Jones defeated Sweden's Margaretha Sigfridsson 7-6 in a rematch of the Olympic final Thursday at the Players' Championship.

Jones and her Winnipeg rink scored one point in the eighth end to beat Sigfridsson. Jones won gold at the Sochi Games by defeating Sweden 6-3 in February.

The win moves Jones into a tie for second place at 3-1 with Sigfridsson.

Meanwhile, Scotland's Eve Muirhead and Switzerland's Silvana Tirinzoni stayed unbeaten at 4-0. Muirhead hammered Calgary's Crystal Webster 9-2 while Tirinzoni kept pace with a 7-5 win over Edmonton's Val Sweeting.

Elsewhere, Saskatoon's Stefanie Lawton rolled over Ottawa's Rachel Homan 7-2, and Sherry Middaugh of Coldwater, Ont., beat Julie Hastings of Thornhill, Ont., 8-6.

In men's play, Calgary's Kevin Koe earned a 9-6 win over Brad Gushue of St. John's, N.L.

Koe and Winnipeg's Mike McEwen are tied atop the standings at 3-0.

Scotland's David Murdoch downed Coldwater's Glenn Howard 6-4, Toronto's John Epping beat Switzerland's Sven Michel 6-2 and Olympic gold medallist Brad Jacobs of Sault Ste. Marie, Ont., defeated Sweden's Niklas Edin 7-4.

Competition continues through Sunday at the final Grand Slam of Curling event of the season.
