TORONTO -- Another Toronto Maple Leafs prospect is expected to make his NHL debut with the club.

Frederik Gauthier, a 2013 first-round pick, will become the 11th Leaf to make his NHL debut this season and ninth in the last three weeks when Toronto hosts the Buffalo Sabres on Saturday night.

Gauthier and fellow rookie Josh Leivo were recalled from the AHL's Toronto Marlies on an emergency basis Saturday with Peter Holland joining a long list of injured Leafs and Brooks Laich absent for personal reasons.

Toronto could dress 11 players aged 23 and under again., Buffalo.

Gauthier has five goals and 11 assists in 52 games in his first AHL season. He is likely to play alongside Leivo and Connor Brown, who made his NHL debut Thursday.

Leivo, 22, has four goals in nine games with the Leafs this season while adding 14 goals and 26 assists in 45 contests with the Marlies. He was selected by Toronto in the third round, No. 86 overall, in the 2011 NHL entry draft.
