Investigators are looking for answers after the suspicious death of a man on Montreal Lake Cree Nation. Montreal Lake and Waskesiu RCMP received a report of an injured man at a home on the First Nation early Monday morning. Just after 1:10 a.m., officers found the man and provided him with first aid, according to a Tuesday news release. Paramedics arrived and declared him dead at the scene. He’s been identified as 24-year-old Steven Beatty from Timber Bay. His family has been notified and victim services have been made available to them, according to RCMP. As the death was considered suspicious in nature, Saskatchewan RCMP’s homicide unit has taken over the investigation. RCMP is asking people with information to contact them at 310-RCMP or submit information anonymously through Saskatchewan Crime Stoppers. Mounties also state more updates will be provided when available, as well as if an imminent risk to public safety is identified.
