A 31-year-old man has been arrested and is facing several serious charges following a shooting in the northern Saskatchewan community of La Loche. RCMP say Clayton Fontaine was taken into custody after hours of investigation and an increased police presence on Frederick Street following the shooting early Friday morning. Police were called to a home in the community at around 5:20 a.m., where they found an injured man who was taken to hospital with serious injuries. Police say the shooting happened during an altercation involving a group of people. The suspect fled the scene after the shooting. Fontaine is facing multiple charges, including attempted murder with a firearm, aggravated assault, possession of a firearm without a licence, unlicensed possession of a firearm, possession of a firearm while prohibited, and discharge of a firearm with intent. Police say details of Fontaine’s court appearance are pending.
