A morning blaze in a Saskatoon home claimed the life of one person. Around 9:13 a.m. on Saturday, firefighters responded to a report of possible fire in the 600 block of Avenue N South, Saskatoon Fire Department (SFD) said in a news release. Multiple units including three fire engines, one rescue unit, one ladder truck and the Battalion Chief were dispatched to the scene where they reported smoke from the roof and visible inside the home. According to SFD, the fire was brought under control around 9:43 a.m. The fire department says a lone occupant was found inside the home and was pronounced dead after being removed by firefighters. The cause and origin of the fire are currently under investigation by the SFD’s fire investigator in collaboration with the Saskatoon Police Service.
