REGINA - Saskatchewan Finance Minister Ken Krawetz says the federal budget could help the province address a worker shortage.

Krawetz says he's encouraged by the initiatives for the economy and training and employment.

The budget tabled Thursday has business-friendly measures including streamlining environmental assessments to speed major resource projects and tailoring the labour market to specific job shortages.

Krawetz also likes the fact that the budget includes $275 million over three years for native schools and education.

But the Federation of Saskatchewan Indian Nations says that is a drop in the bucket.

It says Saskatchewan alone needs $80 million a year to eliminate the funding gap between First Nations schools and provincial schools.
