Firefighters in Yorkton had their work cut out for them over the weekend as a residential fire led to heavy damage to a property in the city’s north. According to a post from the Yorkton Professional Firefighters Association, a garage fire on Collacott Street West quickly intensified around 4 p.m. on Sunday. A compromised gas line fueled the fire, causing the flames to spread into the home and threaten other nearby buildings. Crews shifted focus to the home’s main floor before extinguishing the remaining flames in the home’s basement and attic. The fire service reported no injuries stemming from the incident.
