A woman is facing several charges after an argument in the street led to a bear spray attack. At around 9:30 a.m. on Thursday, Sept. 17, officers were dispatched to the Albert Street and Saskatchewan Drive area for a reported bear spray incident. The caller told police they witnessed a woman and a man verbally arguing in the street. According to police, the witness told officers the woman was holding two cans of bear spray. The argument ended when the woman allegedly sprayed and assaulted the man. The Regina Police Service said within minutes, officers found the suspect and a second woman a short distance from the scene. When police approached, the woman suspect fled on foot. She was caught by a police dog and taken into custody. Officers found and seized one can of bear spray in a bag that was being carried by the second woman. After investigating, officers determined the bear spray belonged to the suspect. Paramedics treated the suspect for a dog bite. The 23-year-old woman faces four charges including assault with a weapon, possessing a weapon, resisting arrest, and failing to comply with a release order.
