The Saskatchewan United Party has announced that Doug Forster will be the party’s interim leader. Forster represented the party in the Yorkton constituency in last October’s provincial election. Former leader Jon Hromek announced his resignation at the end of 2024. Forster said he is honoured and excited to accept the opportunity to serve as interim leader. “Although the results of the 2024 election fell short of our expectations, there is no shame in our achievements during our first attempt at reclaiming our province. We have genuinely moved the needle of Saskatchewan politics and should take pride in what we accomplished for the people of this province, Forster said in a news release. He called the next four years a crucial time for the party and said it will be a period that will allow them to regroup and further establish the party as a “true conservative option for the people of Saskatchewan.” The Sask. United Party did not secure any seats in the last provincial election. “The sentiment that Saskatchewan deserves better resonates more than ever as we look forward to our next opportunity to effect meaningful change in 2028,” Forster said.
