For a third consecutive day, communities across Saskatchewan reported record breaking daily high temperatures. Following record breaking temperatures on both Tuesday and Wednesday – Thursday, May 28 saw a total of twenty-three towns and cities reportedly set single day temperature records as the heatwave peaked. Broadview Area New record of 33.8, surpassing the old record of 31.1 set in 1958. Coronach Area New record of 32.8 C, surpassing the old record of 30.0 set in 1986. Elbow Area New record of 34.4 C, surpassing the old record of 32.5 set in 1986. Hudson Bay Area New record of 36.6 C, surpassing the old record of 32.8 set in 1986. Indian Head Area New record of 35.8 C, surpassing the old record of 33.9 set in 1901. Kindersley Area New record of 34.3 C, surpassing the old record of 33.6 set in 1986. As of Friday, May 29, heat warnings continued to blanket much of Saskatchewan. Temperatures are expected to moderate into the weekend with some areas expecting rain and a risk of thunderstorms. Some areas in western Saskatchewan could see up to 30 mm of rain by Monday morning.
