People from across the country will be coming to Regina for the Canadian Francophone youth games slated for summer 2028. The 9th edition of Jeux de la francophonie canadienne (JeuxFC) will be taking place from July 18-22, 2028 in Regina. The national event features 13 teams from across Canada - each representing the province and territories - that will participate in games involving arts, leadership and sports at the University of Regina (U of R). “We’ve been talking about hosting these games for almost since the third or fourth edition. The youth wanted us to submit a proposal and now that we were picked, we couldn’t be happier to have these games here in Regina,” said executive director Guylaine Patenaude on Saturday, during the official kick-off at the U of R. The event is expected to bring over 1,200 people to the Queen city with the goal of spreading awareness and celebrating Canada’s French community. “Most people don’t think of Regina as a tourism destination or a francophone community, but our games definitely will show that,” Patenaude said. “We are recruiting volunteers from across the province to make sure that we have enough volunteers to host these games. [We’re] definitely on track to showing the rest of Canada who and where Regina is.” The organizing committee of the event is actively looking for 600 volunteers to help with the five-day week event.
